The Alternate Healing Therapies: Part 3 – Hypnotherapy Here we are! Being one of the mysterious and most searched alternate healing therapies, Hypnotherapy also comes with a range of benefits. And this is also backed by many scientific studies as well. Let’s see how it works! What is Hypnotherapy? Hypnotherapy is an adjunctive or, should we say, a supplementary healing therapy that uses hypnosis to treat symptoms of diseases and also offers inner experiences to individuals. When individuals are in a hypnotic state, they are able to reach their innermost feelings and detach from the external world for some time. Hypnotherapy is also used as an added healing therapy to the main medical treatment of any type of psychological disorders, phobias, addiction, relationship issues, sleep disorders, anxiety, depression, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), etc. How Hypnotherapy Helps in Healing? During the treatment, hypnotherapists or psychologists use guided relaxation techniques to elicit feelings of extreme relaxation, focus, and concentration. This helps the individual attain a higher level of consciousness that is free from external noise. The therapy uses two main methods: Suggestion Therapy and Analysis. Suggestion Therapy This is the phase of the treatment where the psychologist guides and/or directs the individual (who is in the altered state) to remove unwanted behavior or addiction from their lives. In this phase of the treatment, psychologists also try to understand the root cause of the problem and help the patients. Analysis or Regression Therapy In this phase, psychologists dig deep into the consciousness of the individual and try to reach the subconscious mind. This enables psychologists to search the past of the individual and uncover secrets that might be responsible for the ailment. Should You Choose Hypnotherapy? The answer is simple: yes, you should, but before that, you have to determine why you need hypnotherapy. If you think there are some issues with your behavior, habits, and psychology, you can most certainly opt for it. The human mind sometimes deliberately forgets the trauma that you’ve gone through to make your mind free from your past, but in the majority of cases, people are not at peace with themselves, which is a calling that you need something more distinctive that will help you face your past and be at peace.

The Alternate Healing Therapies: Part 4 – Massage Therapy In the 4th part of the series of Alternate Healing Therapies, we are going to discuss Massage Therapy, which is widely known for its multiple benefits. What is Massage Therapy? One of the scientifically backed healing therapies, massage therapy involves manipulating soft tissues in the body for a range of purposes. Massage therapy is one of the oldest known therapies that was popular in almost every culture on the planet. This also shows that our ancestors were well-informed about the physical and psychological benefits that a massage can offer. The therapy involves stimulating, holding, and pressurizing soft tissues that are critical for achieving maximum functionality of the body. How Massage Therapy Can Help in Healing? Massage therapy is especially helpful for children suffering from allergies, anxiety, stress, asthma, and bronchitis, arthritis, post-surgical muscle rehabilitation, joint or limb injuries, circulatory problems, depression, digestive disorders, tension headaches, sleep problems or insomnia, chronic and temporary pain, myofascial pain, and sports injuries. However, these are not the only benefits of massage therapy as it can also: Reduce muscle tension and stiffness and relieve muscle spasms Increase joint and limb flexibility, range of motion, and efficiency in the motion Relieve stress through relaxation Promote deeper breathing Improve blood circulation and movement of lymph Heal injuries of the soft tissue such as pulled muscles and sprains Reduce pain and swelling Reduce the formation of scar tissue Health and nourishment of skin Improve body posture Establish a strong mind-body connection and improve mental awareness Despite the benefits and being relatively safer than any other alternate healing therapy, there are certain conditions that do not allow its application, such as advanced heart disease, phlebitis, hypertension/high blood pressure, embolism, thrombosis, kidney failure, and cancer. As you can see, the benefits of Massage Therapy are unlimited, and it can be used by both children and adults. I don’t have to say more, as its application in various fields such as medical, sports, and even military shows that both individuals and medical professionals trust it. However, be careful when you are looking for a Massage Therapist, as only experienced and qualified therapists possess the magic in their hands that can deliver you the health benefits you wish.

The Alternate Healing Therapies: Part 2 – Aromatherapy Continuing from the first part where we discussed Acupuncture, the second part of the series will focus on Aromatherapy, a holistic treatment that is quite different from Acupuncture but still aims to deliver similar outcomes. What is Aromatherapy? In the world of healing therapies, Aromatherapy also holds its place as a holistic treatment to uplift, free the body from ailments, and manage the side effects of modern treatment methods. Due to its use of various types of essential oils, it is also called essential oil therapy. In the treatment, different types of essential oils are diffused in the form of aroma so the individual can inhale them. However, all the essential oils are first diluted with the help of a carrier oil before use. Many specific oils are also applied on the body to keep it relaxed and relieve pain. All the essential oils used are natural and obtained by combining different types of oils derived from plants and seeds. How Aromatherapy Can Help in Healing? Aromatherapy has the potential to deal with many ailments such as asthma, insomnia, fatigue, depression, inflammation, peripheral neuropathy, menstrual issues, alopecia, cancer, erectile dysfunction, arthritis, menopause, etc. The therapy uses a range of oils such as clary sage, cypress, eucalyptus, fennel, geranium, ginger, helichrysum, lavender, lemon, lemongrass, mandarin, neroli, patchouli, peppermint, Roman chamomile, rose, rosemary, tea tree, vetiver, and ylang-ylang that are rich in medicinal compounds. Inhaling these oils or using them topically on your body keeps you relaxed and uplifts your emotional state. Potential Side-Effects of Aromatherapy Since essential oils are organic in nature, they typically do not show any side effects. However, some individuals who are allergic to certain compounds or smells may experience rashes, asthma attacks, headaches, allergic reactions, skin irritation, and nausea. In addition, individuals with specific conditions such as hay fever, asthma, epilepsy, high blood pressure, eczema, and psoriasis should consult with their doctor and the aromatherapist before attending a session. Although aromatherapy can help you deal with many ailments, it must only be used by a highly experienced practitioner who has a thorough knowledge of essential oils and their properties. Additionally, if you have a medical history, you should first consult your doctor and only then opt for Aromatherapy. Check out the next post in this series of Alternate Healing Therapies – Hypnotherapy.
